Going through life with an attitude of gratitude is an amazing way to live. But when you've been stuck in a cycle of stress, burnout and resentment, it can be really challenging to get to that space. Someone suggests that you "start a gratitude journal because it will change your life" and you're so exhausted and fried that you're want to smack them and now you're feeling awkward about trying to figure out how to gracefully excuse yourself from the conversation so as to avoid assault charges.
There is also such a thing as toxic positivity. Trying to find the silver lining isn't necessarily the first (or second. or third) thing you should do when you're crispy, because it bypasses the normal emotional processes like grieving and anger (which are, when expressed appropriately, SUPER healthy emotions). This is when you start with the Resentment Journal. It's a way to help you process all your feelings so you clear them out and accept all the love and gratitude that the Universe has waiting for you. |
